Michel Gondry Movies & Quotes

When people are very original, sometimes they are original as a way to resist the mainstream

He doesn't believe he loves his relationship until he dreams it.

I think my imagination dictates the technologies I use. But at the same time, my imagination can be technologic. Sometimes I see a tool and I know immediately how to use it, but most of the time I use the tool for an idea I already have.

Childhood occupies the biggest part of your brain, so a lot of my memories subconsciously (and consciously) enter the videos I do

I think it was interesting not to lie about it and see that it's actually their work to entertain people and they have their own way to do it.

It is not pretentious. It just gives you the feeling you could do it yourself.

I always had disturbing dreams from when I was a child. Seeing that they disturb me, I might as well make money from it

Sofia Coppola ♥

I wanted to make a love story without being nerdy

Everyone in my family is in the film business; I knew I wanted to be creative and it was important in my family to be artistic.

Tokyo is so hectic, but inside the hotel it's very silent. And the design of it is interesting. It's weird to have this New York bar... the jazz singer... the French restaurant, all in Tokyo. It's this weird combination of different cultures.

It's been great to have positive reviews, especially because for so long I put myself completely into it. You're so vulnerable putting yourself up to be reviewed, so it's exciting that they see something in it that I intended.

A lot of young filmmakers bring their movies to my dad because he always gives lots of good editing ideas and notes. He'd be a good film professor.

Yeah, I love movies...

Sandra: Let's see.You have a lot of DVDs.
Leonard:Yeah.You like movies?
Sandra: Yeah, I love movies.
Leonard:Yeah? Like what? What do you like?
Sandra: Well, my favorite movie is probably..."The Sound of Music." Not because of the film, really, but because, you know, whenever it's on, my family always watches it. It's that kind of thing.
Leonard: No, that's a good It's underrated

She's up there somewhere now...

My mother outlived the GDR by three days.
I believe it was a good thing she never learned the truth.
She died happy.
She wanted us to scatter her ashes to the winds.
That's prohibited in Germany, both East and West. But we didn't care.

She's up there somewhere now. Maybe looking down at us.
Maybe she sees us as tiny specks on the Earth's surface, just like Sigmund Jähn did back then. The country my mother left behind was a country she believed in; a country we kept alive till her last breath; a country that never existed in that form; a country that, in my memory, I will always associate with my mother

I'd definitely leave everything for you.

Leonard: Michelle, come on! What are you doing? Come on, seriously.
He's the kind of guy who's got this whole life, His family and shit.
You think he's gonna leave all that?I know I would. I'd definitely leave everything for you.

Michelle: Leonard, you're very sweet, but...
I think if you knew me better, you wouldn't feel that way.

27 de julio de 2010

That's very cool that you're an artist.

Michelle:
So let me ask you something, If you could do, like,
anything in the world, You know,
like,anything you wanted to do,
what do you think it would be?

Leonard
I like photography.
Michelle:
Really? You're a photographer?
Leonard:
I'm gonna be.

Michelle:
Wow.That's funny because I could sort of tell that you were, like, creative.
God, that's very cool that you're an artist.
Leonard:
Well, I don't know if you can call me an artist.

Michelle:
No, you know what?
Never let anybody discourage you from that.I'm serious.

Life is not a movie!

Kit:
Theo, for Christ's sake, life is not a movie.

Theo:
Yeah it is. Come on, whatever you say, whatever you do, movies always got there first. Even that line you just said comes from a movie, um - Kevin Spacey in the end of, uh, Swimming With Sharks.

You shouldn't be the substitute for anybody

You know, there is nothing greater than deciding in your life
that things maybe really are black and white!

And this guy Ben, who clearly takes you for granted
who serially takes advantage of you, is bad!

And what I'm saying is good! See what I mean?
You shouldn't be the substitute for anybody

And they spend the rest of their lives together

You know...
Adelie penguins, they spend their whole lives
looking for that one other penguin
and when they meet them, they know.
And they spend the rest of their lives together

Love can make up for a lot

No relationship is perfect, ever.
There are always some ways you have to bend, to compromise,
to give something up in order to gain something greater…
The love we have for each other is bigger than these small differences.
And that’s the key. It’s like a big pie chart,
and the love in a relationship has to be the biggest piece.
Love can make up for a lot

Most people will never taste that kind of love

I walked home alone that night.
I didn't care how she got home. It was weird.
I mean, I liked her, I liked her a lot, but out there on the field...
It was just different then.
That was the last time I saw her.

You know, most people will
never taste that kind of love.
But at least I tasted it once, right?

Can I ask you a question?

Mark Darcy:
Can I ask you a question Bridget?

Bridget Jones:
Of course, any question... as long as it's not, 'Will You Marry Me'...Omg, it is isn't it? It's will you Marry me? Ok, no! Wait, pretend that we just came out... and you asked me if you could ask me a question and I said yes and NOTHING more. Ok, go.

Mark Darcy:
Bridget Jones, will you marry me?

Eleanor Roosevelt Quotes

If someone betrays you once, it’s their fault; if they betray you twice, it’s your fault.

If life were predictable it would cease to be life, and be without flavor.

You always admire what you really don't understand

It is not fair to ask of others what you are unwilling to do yourself.

The giving of love is an education in itself.

The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.

I could not at any age be content to take my place in a corner by the fireside and simply look on

Do what you feel in your heart to be right - for you'll be criticized anyway. You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

I think that somehow, we learn who we really are and then live with that decision.

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do.

One thing life has taught me: if you are interested, you never have to look for new interests. They come to you. When you are genuinely interested in one thing, it will always lead to something else.

A woman is like a tea bag- you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.

A little simplification would be the first step toward rational living, I think.

Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, but beautiful old people are works of art.

Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people.
Life was meant to be lived, and curiosity must be kept alive. One must never, for whatever reason, turn his back on life

Friendship with oneself is all-important, because without it one cannot be friends with anyone else in the world.

Justice cannot be for one side alone, but must be for both.

We are afraid to care too much, for fear that the other person does not care at all.

Learn from the mistakes of others. You can’t live long enough to make them all yourself.

Freedom makes a huge requirement of every human being. With freedom comes responsibility. For the person who is unwilling to grow up, the person who does not want to carry is own weight, this is a frightening prospect.

I'm so glad I never feel important, it does complicate life!

You must do the things you think you cannot do.

Probably the happiest period in life most frequently is in middle age, when the eager passions of youth are cooled, and the infirmities of age not yet begun;

as we see that the shadows, which are at morning and evening so large, almost entirely disappear at midday

Have convictions. Be friendly. Stick to your beliefs as they stick to theirs. Work as hard as they do

As for accomplishments, I just did what I had to do as things came along

Actors are one family over the entire world.

It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness.

Ambition is pitiless. Any merit that it cannot use it finds despicable.

Perhaps nature is our best assurance of immortality

Autobiographies are only useful as the lives you read about and analyze may suggest to you something that you may find useful in your own journey through life.

I like you, very much. Just as you are

I don't think you're an idiot at all. I mean,
there are elements of the ridiculous about you.

Your mother's pretty interesting.
And you really are an appallingly bad public speaker.

And, um, you tend to let whatever's in your head come out of your mouth without
much consideration of the consequences...

But the thing is, um, what I'm trying to say, very inarticulately, is that, um, in fact, perhaps despite appearances,
I like you, very much. Just as you are.

Anyway, we're in love...

Leeloo: Leeloo Dallas mul-ti-pass.

Korben Dallas: Yeah.
Leeloo: Mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: Yeah, multipass, she knows it's a multipass. Leeloo Dallas. This is my wife.
Leeloo: Mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: We're newlyweds. Just met. You know how it is. We bumped into each other, sparks happen...
Leeloo: Mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: Yes, she knows it's a multipass.
Anyway, we're in love

Just your heart, in exchange for mine...

You know when I said I knew little about love?
That wasn't true. I know a lot about love.

I've seen it, centuries and centuries of it, and it was the only thing that made watching your world bearable. All those wars. Pain, lies, hate...
It made me want to turn away and never look down again.
But when I see the way that mankind loves...
You could search to the furthest reaches of the universe
and never find anything more beautiful.

So yes, I know that love is unconditional.
But I also know that it can be unpredictable, unexpected, uncontrollable, unbearable and strangely easy to mistake for loathing, and...
What I'm trying to say, Tristan is...
I think I love you. Is this love, Tristan?
I never imagined I'd know it for myself.
My heart... It feels like my chest can barely contain it.
Like it's trying to escape because
it doesn't belong to me any more.
It belongs to you. And if you wanted it,
I'd wish for nothing in exchange - no gifts.
No goods. No demonstrations of devotion.
Nothing but knowing you loved me too.
Just your heart, in exchange for mine.

Love is a gift, not an obligation.

Isabel:
Look I told you in the beginning...
I have no problem raising this child on my own.

Alex:
I thought we were a family...
Isabel:
You don't understand the concept of a family!
To you it's something you put up with on national holidays!
Love is a gift, Alex not an obligation.

Alex:
Look this is the brass ring.
I've worked my entire life for this kind of opportunity
and I am not gonna throw it all away just because one night
I put a five dollar ring on your finger in front of Elvis as a witness!

Some things are meant to be

Henry:
Do you really think there is only one perfect mate?

Leonardo da Vinci:
As a matter of fact, I do.

Henry:
Well then how can you be certain to find them?
And if you do find them, are they really the one for you or do you only think they are?
And what happens if the person you're supposed to be with never appears or, or she does,
but you're too distracted to notice?

Leonardo da Vinci: You learn to pay attention.

Henry:
Then let's say God puts two people on Earth and they are lucky enough to find one another. But one of them gets hit by lightning. Well then what? Is that it? Or, perchance, you meet someone new and marry all over again. Is that the lady you're supposed to be with or was it the first? And if so, when the two of them were walking side by side were they both the one for you and you just happened to meet the first one first or, was the second one supposed to be first?
And is everything just chance or
are some things meant to be?

Solve the problem in front of you!

Calling someone fat won't make you any skinnier.
Calling someone stupid doesn't make you any smarter.
And ruining regina george's life definately didn't make me any happier.
All you can do in life is try to solve the problem in front of you.

who loves you for exactly what you are...

In my opinion, the best thing you can do
is find a person who loves you
for exactly what you are.

Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome,
what have you, the right person will
still think the sun shines out your ass.

That's the kind of person
that's worth sticking with

My love quotes VIII

Boys never used to notice me before. I wasn't even on their list of alternatives

What part about 'kinda cute, kinda hot, kinda sexy, hysterically funny, but not funny-looking guy who you could fuck' did you not understand?

Doubt thou the stars are fire, Doubt that the sun doth move, Doubt truth to be a liar, But never doubt I love

Do I laugh now, or wait 'til it gets funny?

Passion and satisfaction go hand in hand, and without them, any happiness is only temporary, because there’s nothing to make it last

I just need to know that someone out there listens and understands and doesn’t try to sleep with people even if they could have. I need to know that these people exist.

I don't want to lose my virginity to a piece of fruit.

If you never do anything, you never become anyone

I see it in the people that do the real work, and what's sad in a way is that the people that are the most giving, hardworking, and capable of making this world better, usually don't have the ego and ambition to be a leader.

You can never replace anyone because everyone is made up of such beautiful specific details

There are so many things I want to do, but I end up doing not much

Memory is a wonderful thing if you don't have to deal with the past

Si quieres hacer reír a Dios cuéntale tus planes.

Let them have outer space. We got rock 'n' roll

That thing had better fly, or you can kiss your chances of losing your virginity goodbye.

I may have been a lonely home-wrecking whore, but I saved lives!

You are what you love, not what loves you

Letting everyone down would be my greatest unhappiness

I shall never forget that you are reponsible for my happiness

All that I ask is that you do each and every little thing that pops into my head, while I enjoy the enormous fortune your parents left behind

Everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way

I can't believe that there was a time in my life when all I could think about was... sex

I suppose I do have one unembarrassed passion. I want to know what it feels like to care about something passionately.

We are what we love, not what loves us

You're the girl of my dreams...

Lucy: I don't know who you are, Henry...
but I dream about you almost every night. Why?

Henry: What would you say if I told you that notebook you read every
day used to have a lot of stuff about me in it?
Lucy: I would say that that makes a lot of sense.

Henry:
You erased me from your memories
because you thought you were
holding me back from having a full and happy life.
But you made a mistake.
Being with you is the only way
I could have a full and happy life.
You're the girl of my dreams... and apparently,
I'm the man of yours.

Lucy: Henry. It's nice to meet you.
Henry: Lucy, it's nice to meet you too.

I couldn't have a life with you anymore...

Emily:
Brendan, I know you're mad at these people because you think I went away from you and went to them but, you need to start seeing it as my decision. Stop getting angry because where I want to be at, is different from where you want to be at.

Brendan: Who fed you that line, Em?
Emily: Stop picking on Dode. He's a good guy.
Brendan: The pie house rat?

Emily: He's a good friend.
Brendan: So, what am I?

Emily:
Yeah, I mean what are you? Just sitting back here, hating everyone? Who are you to judge anyone? God, I really loved you a lot. I couldn't stand it. I had to get with people. I couldn't have a life with you anymore.

You changed my life in four days...

Sam: You don't realize, this is good, this doesn't happen often in your life. We can work this stuff out. I want to help you, you know? We need each other...
Andrew: This isn't a conversation about this being over, it's, it's... I'm not, like, putting a period at the end of this, you know, I'm putting, like, an ellipsis on it, cause I'm- I'm- I'm worried that if I don't figure myself out, if I don't go like land on my own two feet, then I'm just gonna to mess this whole thing up, and this is too important. I gotta go... you changed my life in four days. This is the beginning of something really big. But right now, I gotta go

You feel like you can never get it back

Andrew Largeman:
You know that point in your life when you realize the house you grew up in isn't really your home anymore? All of a sudden even though you have some place where you put your shit, that idea of home is gone.
Sam:
I still feel at home in my house.

Andrew Largeman:
You'll see one day when you move out it just sort of happens one day and it's gone.
You feel like you can never get it back.
It's like you feel homesick for a place that doesn't even exist.
Maybe it's like this rite of passage, you know.

You won't ever have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for your kids, for the family you start, it's like a cycle or something.
I don't know, but I miss the idea of it, you know.
Maybe that's all family really is.
A group of people that miss the same imaginary place

You're just a teenager...

Charlotte: 25 years. That's uh, well it's impressive.
Bob: Well you figure, you sleep one-third of your life, that knocks out eight years of marriage right there. So you're, y'know, down to 16 in change. You know you're just a teenager, at marriage, you can drive it but there's still the occasional accident

The less you let things upset you...

Charlotte: I just don't know what I'm supposed to be.
Bob: You'll figure that out.
The more you know who you are, and what you want,
the less you let things upset you.

Excuse me for not being the world's biggest Madonna fan

Mr. Brown: Let me tell you what 'Like a Virgin' is about. It's all about a girl who digs a guy with a big dick. The entire song. It's a metaphor for big dicks.

Mr. Blonde: No, no. It's about a girl who is very vulnerable. She's been fucked over a few times. Then she meets some guy who's really sensitive...

Mr. Brown: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa... Time out Greenbay. Tell that fucking bullshit to the tourists.
Joe: Toby... Who the fuck is Toby? Toby...

Mr. Brown: 'Like a Virgin' is not about this sensitive girl who meets a nice fella. That's what "True Blue" is about, now, granted, no argument about that.

Mr. Orange: Which one is 'True Blue'?
Nice Guy Eddie: 'True Blue' was a big ass hit for Madonna. I don't even follow this Tops In Pops shit, and I've at least heard of "True Blue".

Mr. Orange: Look, asshole, I didn't say I ain't heard of it. All I asked was how does it go? Excuse me for not being the world's biggest Madonna fan.

Mr. Blonde: Personally, I can do without her.
Mr. Blue: I like her early stuff. You know, 'Lucky Star', 'Borderline' - but once she got into her 'Papa Don't Preach' phase, I don't know, I tuned out.

I don't feel alone anymore...

Henry DeTamble: I never wanted to have anything in my life that I couldn't stand losing. But it's too late for that. It's not because you're beautiful and smart. I don't feel alone anymore. Will you marry me?

Clare Abshire: No. I didn't mean that. I just wanted to try it, to say it, to assert my own sense of free will, but my free will wants you.
Henry DeTamble: So it's a yes?
Clare Abshire: Yes, of course.

That, or die alone!

Young Ed Bloom: I just saw the woman I'm going to marry. I know it. But I lost her.

Amos Calloway: Oh, tough break. Well, most men have to get married *before* they lose their wives.
Young Ed Bloom: I'm gonna spend every day for the rest of my life looking for her. That, or die alone!

Amos Calloway: Damn, kid. Lemme guess. Real pretty? Reddish-blondish hair? Blue dress?
Young Ed Bloom: Yeah!
Amos Calloway: I know her uncle. Friends of the family.
Young Ed Bloom: Who is she? Where does she live?
Amos Calloway: Forget it kid, don't waste your time. She's out of your league.
Young Ed Bloom: What do you mean? You don't even know me.
Amos Calloway: Sure I do! You were hot shit back in Hickville, but here in the real world, you got squat! You don't have a plan, you don't have a job, you don't have anything except the clothes on your back.

If my ass wasn't fat I would be happier

Do I have an original thought in my head? My bald head. Maybe if I were happier, my hair wouldn't be falling out. Life is short. I need to make the most of it. Today is the first day of the rest of my life. I'm a walking cliché.

I really need to go to the doctor and have my leg checked.
There's something wrong. A bump. The dentist called again. I'm way overdue. If I stop putting things off, I would be happier. All I do is sit on my fat ass. If my ass wasn't fat I would be happier. I wouldn't have to wear these shirts with the tails out all the time. Like that's fooling anyone. Fat ass. I should start jogging again. Five miles a day. Really do it this time. Maybe rock climbing. I need to turn my life around.

What do I need to do? I need to fall in love. I need to have a girlfriend. I need to read more, improve myself. What if I learned Russian or something? Or took up an instrument? I could speak Chinese. I'd be the screenwriter who speaks Chinese and plays the oboe. That would be cool. I should get my hair cut short. Stop trying to fool myself and everyone else into thinking I have a full head of hair. How pathetic is that? Just be real. Confident. Isn't that what women are attracted to? Men don't have to be attractive. But that's not true. Especially these days. Almost as much pressure on men as there is on women these days.

Why should I be made to feel I have to apologize for my existence? Maybe it's my brain chemistry. Maybe that's what's wrong with me. Bad chemistry. All my problems and anxiety can be reduced to a chemical imbalance or some kind of misfiring synapses. I need to get help for that. But I'll still be ugly though. Nothing's gonna change that...

you're making me blush...

Josh: Look, I'm just curious. How many hours a day
do you spend grooming yourself?
Cher: Some people are not lucky enough to be
as naturally adorable as you are.
Josh: Stop it, you're making me blush.

I'm a wreck without you...

Dear Annette, I don't know what I could possibly say that would rectify the harm I've caused you. The truth of the matter is that being with you was the only time I have ever been happy. My whole life has been a joke. I prided myself on taking joy in others' misery. Well, it finally backfired. I succeed in hurting the first person I ever loved. Enclosed is my most prized possession. My journal. For a long time I considered it my trophy. A sordid collection of my conquests. If you really want to know the truth than please read it. No more lies. Please give me another chance. I'm a wreck without you

All you have to do is look hard enough

Dearest children - since we've been abroad we have missed you all so much. Certain events have compelled us to extend our travels. One day, when you're older, you will learn all about the people we have befriended and the dangers we have faced.
At times the world can seem an unfriendly and sinister place, but believe us when we say that there is much more good in it than bad.
All you have to do is look hard enough.
And what might seem to be a series of unfortunate events may,
in fact, be the first steps of a journey.
We hope to have you back in our arms soon, darlings, but in case this letter arrives before our return, know that we love you. It fills us with pride to know that no matter what happens in this life, that you three will take care of each other, with kindness and bravery and selflessness, as you always have. And remember one thing, my darlings, and never forget it: that no matter where we are, know that as long as you have each other, you have your family. And you are home

I wish I could go with you

Marie-Antoinette: I wish I could go with you.
Count Fersen: I should kidnap you

I've never told anybody that before...

Narrator: As he listened, Tom began to realize that these stories
weren't routinely told.
These were stories one had to earn. He could feel the wall coming down.
He wondered if anyone else had made it this far.
Which is why the next six words changed everything.
Summer: I've never told anybody that before.
Tom: I guess I'm not just anybody.

I see dead people...

Cole Sear: I see dead people.

Malcolm Crowe: In your dreams? While you're awake?
Dead people like, in graves? In coffins?

Cole Sear:
Walking around like regular people.
They don't see each other.
They only see what they want to see.
They don't know they're dead.

Malcolm Crowe: How often do you see them?

Cole Sear: All the time. They're everywhere
